Season’s Greetings from Katie and me. We hope you and your family are enjoying some quality time together this Holiday Season. Life has been extremely hectic for us this year, and so we are that much more grateful for this time to reflect and visit with family. More about that below.

On January 6th, the 111th Congress will be sworn in. Beginning that day the campaign will officially be over and my DC and District Offices will be up and running. Below is some information about my staff and the offices. Also, be on the lookout for future information about how to sign up for my Congressional Newsletter so we can continue to stay in touch. I will need your help and guidance now more than ever as we tackle some tough issues in the coming months.

I truly cannot say thank you enough. It has only been 10 months since we first announced the campaign, but in that short time we have accomplished so much. With your continued support, I know we can make a difference in Washington.

Best wishes to you and yours for a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2009,

Bill

Personal Update

Friends, I’d like to thank you all for your prayers of support over the last few months. Not a day would go by without someone telling Katie or I that they were praying for us. This kind of support has truly helped us survive what has undoubtedly been one of the most trying years we have ever faced. And while you might have thought you were praying for us to make it through the campaign, we needed and appreciated the support more on a personal level.

In the last six months, both Katie and I lost our mothers. For those of you who have already experienced the passing of a parent, you can undoubtedly relate. But there is no way to describe the experience and its weight on you.

While we have been extremely busy with the transition effort and have attended numerous orientation seminars since the Election, I have also taken some time to take care of myself. This past June, I was diagnosed with stage one prostate cancer. The doctors were confident that we caught it early and the minimally invasive surgery to remove my prostate was delayed until earlier this month. I’m happy to report tests indicate I am again cancer free and the recovery process has been better than expected. Of course it helps that Katie has been by my side the entire time.

Thankfully these few weeks surrounding the holidays have allowed me to rest, recover and as I mentioned above, spend time with my family. This Christmas, we have indeed celebrated the miracle of life. We remember our mothers, thank God for our health, and look at the hope and promise in our Grandchildren. And again, thank you friends for your prayers and continued support. May God bless you and your family this Holiday Season.

New Year's Eve

Watch the Ball in Times Square

Here is a bit of holiday trivia you can share with friends and neighbors as you watch the ball drop in Times Square on New Years Eve. A local company based in Satellite Beach, Lighting Science, redesigned the ball with LED lights, making it more durable, more efficient, and able to handle more dramatic lighting displays.

Last year was the debut of the Lighting Science LED ball. Once again this year the eyes of the whole world will be watching the fantastic ball drop. And now you know it isn’t a product of New York – it was made right here in the 15th Congressional District!

Congrats to the whole Lighting Science Team for helping ring in the New Year in a big way!
